Maurizio Sarri tells Callum Hudson-Odoi to stay at Chelsea as Bayern Munich hope to tempt winger with number 10 shirt
Maurizio Sarri believes Callum Hudson-Odoi should stay at Chelsea as Bayern Munich hope to tempt the teenage winger to Germany. It has been reported Bayern have already seen two bids for Hudson-Odoi rejected by the Blues, with his future up in the air as his contract expires at the end of next season. However, the Bundesliga giants are not giving up and they intend to offer Hudson-Odoi the number 10 shirt should he quit Stamford Bridge for the Allianz Arena, according to The Sun.Bayern are doing all they can to secure Hudson-Odoi’s signature2

They believe the 18-year-old could force through a move if he knows he will wear such a famous number, with the number 10 currently used by former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben – who is leaving Bayern at the end of the season.Sarri, however, believes it will be better for Hudson-Odoi to remain at Chelsea as he can have a ‘great future’ in his homeland, both at club and international level.“I know only that for me he’s a very important player,” Sarri said. “He’s very young, but now he’s improving. “I think to stay here is better for him. He’s an English player. He’s very young. He has the future. And I think he has a very great future here, in England, with the national team and with Chelsea.”One of the key reasons Hudson-Odoi has been linked with leaving Chelsea is due to the lack of game time he has been afforded over the past few months. However, he impressed in Chelsea’s FA Cup third round defeat of Nottingham Forest – assisting both of Alvaro Morata’s goals – and Sarri insists the teenager is now ready for more first team football.Hudson-Odoi twice assisted Morata in the defeat of Nottingham Forest2

The former Napoli boss continued: “We have very important players in the same position. I think now he is ready.“Sometimes he will be on the bench, as Willian, as Pedro. Now I can start to consider him at the same level (as Willian and Pedro).”
